The first mission patch worn in space was created by Gemini 5 crewmates Gordon Cooper and Charles Conrad. Alan Shepard and his fellow Mercury astronauts did not wear, nor did they design mission patches. The insignias offered here for all the Mercury missions and the first two Gemini flights were created as souvenirs after the programs ended.
